Structure Fire with Rescues – Canandaigua

The Canandaigua Fire Department was dispatched this evening to South Main St. near Clark Street for a reported structure fire.

First arriving units reported heavy fire from the front porch of a multi-family dwelling.  Numerous people were removed from the seconds floor via ladders.

Early reporters are 6 people were rescued and 9 were sent to area hospitals.  City firefighter Ron Bement, City police Lt. Michael Colacino, and off-duty DPW worker Oren Housel are credited with removing 4 children.  City Firefighter Jay Boock is credited with removing another female form the second floor as well.

Mutual aid was requested  from the VA Medical Center, Shortsville and Crystal Beach Fire Departments.
