Structure fire with people trapped – Hopewell
The Hopewell Fire Department was dispatched this morning to State Routes 5&20 for a reported house fire with 2 occupants trapped on a roof. Units went on location and rescued the 2 occupant from a single story porch roof. The 2 patients were transported by Canandaigua ambulance to Strong Hospital in Rochester. Mutual aid was requested from the Canandaigua, Seneca Castle, and VA Medical Center fire Departments. Additional mutual aid was requested from Gorham, Stanley, Hall, Bellona and Benton for tankers to supplement the water supply on scene. The fire was under control in approximately 2.5 hours, with units remaining on scene for several more hours while checking for extension and hot spots. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
