It is with deep regret and sympathy to the Harter Family and all the member of the Fire Department Community in Livingston County that we announce the passing of David Harter. The following information is provided by Wayne Stanley, Fire Chief, Dansville, NY:
David Harter – Past Chief of the Dansville Fire Department, Past President of Livingston County Volunteer Firefighter’s Association, Past President of Western New York Volunteer Fireman’s Association, and Former Fire Coordinator of Livingston County. A Memorial Service and Firemen’s Tribute will be held At the Dansville Fire Department Hall on Franklin Street On Wednesday, May 7th at 11:00 am. The family is going to have a Private Service at the cemetery. Firemen wishing to wear their uniforms can do so, but not mandatory. Expectations of a large contingent of Firemen and Friends are expected, so All Firemen are requested to arrive in Dansville1/2 hr to 1 hour in advance of the stated hours to allow for placement at the Memorial. Parking Areas have been secured with Shuttle Buses to Operate to the Fire Hall. Please utilize these areas to allow ample parking in the limited area around the Fire Hall for Family. Proceed to the Old Ames/Tops Parking Lot (across from the new Tops) Located on Route 36 between Rt. 390, Exit 5 and the Village Fire Police will direct parking areas and buses will run throughout the area. An Honor Guard will be composed of the Dansville Fire Department Members with any other County Department invited to join by presenting with their Department Flag. The James H. Jackson Hose Company on Clara Barton St. and the Dansville Moose Lodge on South Main St. will be holding receptions following the Services. County Fire Departments: Dansville is looking for assistance with the following: Buses to be used in the Shuttle Fire Department Personnel, Vans to be used for Transport, and Fire Police to work with the County Fire Police.
