The Phelps Ambulance and Oaks Corners Fire Department were dispatched early this morning to the intersection of County Rd # 6 and State Rt 96 for an MVA with a vehicle over the embankment.
Command reported a pickup truck over a 70 foot embankment with 1 patient trapped. Mutual aid requested from Phelps FD for their Heavy Rescue and Northside FD to establish a landing zone for Mercy Flight. Firefighters utilized rope and other rigging to lower themselves and equipment down the ravine, and then eventually remove the female patient via stokes basket.
The patient was extricated and removed from the ravine in approximately 40 minutes. Mercy flight then transported her to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
