<div>UPDATE FROM <a href="http://firefighterclosecalls.com/fullstory.php?103213" target="_blank">FIREFIGHTER CLOSE CALLS</a> :</div>
<div>It is with deep regret that we pass on to you initial details regarding yesterdays Line of Duty Death of Borodino (Onondaga County, NY) Firefighter Gerard Marcheterre.</div>
<div>Initial reports are that FF MArcheterre was on the apparatus, responding to a structural collapse in the nearby Spafford FD&#8217;s response area. While responding, FF Marcheterre was having difficulty breathing. They relayed this information to fire dispatch via cell phone because there isn&#8217;t a mobile radio installed in the rescue pumper-as the county is apparently transitioning radio systems. They requested an ambulance meet them at Spaffords firehouse. A few minutes later they arrived and Spafford&#8217;s firehouse advised Onondoga County Fire Dispatch to have EMS to expedite as it was now a full arrest. As always, our sincere condolences to all affected.</div>
