Mutual aid to Livingston County

The Honeoye Fire Department was dispatched this afternoon to Old Bald Hill Road to assist the Springwater Fire Department at a reported structure fire.

Units went on location with a working structure fire, and Honeoye requested Naples to fill-in at their quarters. Later in the incident, Naples was moved up to the scene, and Bristol provided fill-in at Honeoye’s station.

Charter Member Lewis Martz Sr. – Farmington Fire Department

It is with great sadness that the Farmington Volunteer Fire Association announces the passing of Charter Member Lewis Martz Sr. Calling Hours are 4-8pm on Tuesday 8/31/10 at the Payne-Murphy Funeral Home on State Route 31. The Ontario County Honor Guard has been requested to assemble at the Funeral home at 1545hrs. The Funeral will take place Wednesday 9/1/10 at 11am at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pumpkin Hook

Missing Person Search – Phelps

The Phelps Fire Department was dispatched this evening to assist the Ontario County Sheriffs Department with a search for a missing elderly person.

Several neighboring departments were activated for use of their ATV’s to assist with the search. At Approximately 9 PM the missing person was located in stable condition.

Structure Fire – Canandaigua

The Canandaigua Fire Department was dispatched this evening to Greig Terrace for a reported barn fire behind the house.

Command went on location with a working fire, and requested mutual aid from the VA Medical Center. The fire was under control in approximately 15 minutes, and the cause is under investigation. Cheshire and Shortsville provided fill in coverage.

Structure Fire – Phelps

The Phelps and Marbletown (automatic mutual aid) Fire Departments were was dispatched this afternoon to White Rd for a possible structure fire, with a report of a fire in a closet.

Command went on location with nothing showing. Further updates reported a possible attic fire, and mutual aid was requested from Newark for a ladder truck. The fire was under control in approximately 15 mintues. Oaks Corners FD
provided standby coverage.

MVA with entrapment – Canandaigua

The Canandaigua Fire Department and Canandaigua ambulance were dispatched this evening to the area of Sandhill Road near Emerson Rd for a reported MVA with a vehicle into a tree. Further updates reported 1 person trapped.

Command went on location with a vehicle into a tree with extensive entrapment. Mutual aid was requested from the VA Medical Center FD. After approximately 58 minutes, the patient was extricated from the vehicle and transported via Mercy Flight. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Structure Fire – Honeoye

The Honeoye and Bristol (automatic mutual aid) Fire Departments were dispatched this morning to County Road 40 for a reported barn fire.

While enroute, command requested mutual aid tankers from the West Bloomfield, East Bloomfield, Hemlock and Livonia, and Cheshire for their ladder truck. Units went on location with heavy smoke showing from the roof.

The fire was called under control within 15 minutes, and the cause is reported to be from lightning.

The Phelps and Oaks Corners (automatic mutual aid) Fire Departmetns were dispatched this afternoon to Garfield Street in the village for a reported mattress on fire inside the residence.

Command went on location with nothing showing. Further updates from the scene reported a smoldering mattress inside the structure with the occupant still inside. Code Enforcement was called to the scene and all units cleared within 30 minutes.

MVA with entrapment – Seneca Castle

The Seneca Castle Fire Department and Finger Lakes ambulance were dispatched this afternoon to State Routes 5&20 for a reported 1 vehicle MVA with people trapped.

Command went on location and reported a pick-up truck into a tree with 2 trapped and requested mutual aid from Hopewell for a second set of jaws. 2 Mercy flight helicopters were requested to the scene. 1 patient was extricated in approximately 10 minutes, and the second patient was extricated in approximately 30 minutes. Both patients were transported to Strong Hospital in Rochester. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
