Calling hours for Fire Police Captain Norm Koch of the East Pembroke Fire Department have been set for 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and a funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday (15/09) at Pembroke Community Center, 116 East Main St., Corfu.

MVA with serious injuries - Canandaigua

The Canandaigua Fire Department and Canandaigua ambulance were dispatched this evening to the intersection of State Routes 5&20 and Middle Cheshire Road for a reported 2 vehicle MVA with injuries.

First arriving units reported an unresponsive patient lying in the ditch and requested Mercy Flight to respond to the scene.   Dispatch reported that Mercy Flight was unable to fly, and that Finger Lakes ambulance was responding mutual aid.  1 patient was transported from the scene with serious injuries.

Reported Structure Fire - East Bloomfield

The East Bloomfield Fire Department was dispatched this evening to New Michigan Road for a reported structure fire with a report of people still in the building.  While enroute, command requested mutual aid from the Farmington Fire Department.

First arriving units reported burnt food with heavy smoke in the strucutre, with everyone out of the building.  Command canceled Farmington FD and reported that units would be ventilating the structure.

Combine and Field Fire - Hall

The Hall Fire Department was dispatched this evening to Gillette Road for a reported combine fire.

Command reported a combine well off the road going good along with the corn field.  Mutual aid was requested from Benton and West Lake Road Fire Departments.

Structure Fire - Farmington

The Farmington Fire Department was dispatched this morning to County road 8 for a reported chimney fire.  This activated their box 200 which started automatic mutual aid from the Manchester, Port Gibson  and Macedon Fire Departments .

First arriving units went on location and reported nothing showing.  Further updates reported a working fire in the attic of the structure.

Structure Fire - Shortsville

The Shortsville and Manchester (automatic mutual aid) Fire Departments were dispatched this evening to Pioneer Road in the Village of Shortsville for a reported structure with flames showing.

Command reported a working structure fire, with smoke and flames showing on the B/C side.  Mutual aid was requested from the Clifton Springs and the VA Medical Center Fire Departments.  The Port Gibson, Phelps, Canandaigua, and Farmington Fire Departments were requested to provide fill-ins to empty stations, with Port Gibson being re-directed to the scene.  Photos

Assistance to Firefighters Grant Awards

Several fire departments in Ontario County recently received notification from the Federal Emergency Management Agency that they will be receiving a grant from the US Department of Homeland Security.

The primary goal of the Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and non affiliated emergency medical services organizations. Since 2001, AFG has helped firefighters and other first responders to obtain critically needed equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training, and other resources needed to protect the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards. The National Preparedness Directorate in the Federal Emergency Management Agency administers the grants in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration.

MVA with entrappment - Geneva

The Geneva Fire Department was dispatched this afternoon to a reported 2 car MVA at the corner of Hamilton and Pulteney Streets.   Command went on location and reported 1 person trapped. 

Geneva firefighters used the jaws to remove 1 trapped occupant who was transported to Geneva General by Finger Lakes Ambulance. Geneva Police also assisted on Scene.
